New updates in 2023

It’s 2023. Happy new year to my friends from the Internet!

As you may notice, there are new updates in 2023 in this website. I have had this idea since last year after attending Inter Mewburn‘s #SoMe workshop (Strongly recommended. It was useful). Hopefully this will help me reaching out to more people. Let me know if you have any feedback. I look forward to hearing from all of you.

Likewise, as part of the new updates in 2023, the blog will have changes as well.

What’s new?

Starting from 2023, this blog will not be just a collection of opinion pieces. I will start putting in updates about my public events, workshop and interviews for people who are more interested about my work. In fact, as an emerging scholar, I cherish every opportunity to engage with the public and share about my research.

The blog post will be different. It will have more ‘evergreen’ content. Every 1 or 2 week (depend on how busy I was), I will blog about the latest publication in my field, summarise the content and maybe include my personal thoughts. It will still be about international relations, maritime security, and Chinese politics, sometimes it will have stuffs on Hong Kong politics, teaching and learning, research life and Christianity.

That also means, there will be less ‘op-ed’ articles. However, I expect this changes will be more helpful for students and researchers who are too busy reading everything from the Internet. It will also let my general audiences have a better understanding of the research in the field. As a new start, all previous posts will be archived. To read the previous opinion pieces and my writings in PolymerHK, please visit my archive.

Finally, behind the scene, I will start working on my SEO (a nerdish, marketing term). Basically, I hope to getting more search in Google. If you really a big fan of my work, you may search ‘Edward Sing Yue Chan’ more in Google to boost up my search ranking. If you want to know how it really works, feel free to get in touch with me.

Look forward to getting in touch with you all in 2023!
